Woodstock Polish from Urban Decay's Rollergirl Nail Kit
This week’s Friend Friday is all about manicures!
I wasn’t a nail polish girl until I uncovered the secret to perfect DIY manicures in Grit and Glamour’s Nail Polish Tips and Tricks. Vahni recommends waiting about 30 minutes from each coat, and while this seems like a long time, allowing each coat to dry completely before adding another layer was the trick to making my manicures last.
Following Vahni’s advice made my manicures last a week without chipping. In total, most manicures took two hours, which shocked some of the women I told, but it didn’t seem that outrageous to me especially since my weekly manicures coincided with two hour episodes of The Bachelorette on Monday nights.

For most of May and June, I relied on Urban Decay’s Rollergirl Nail Kit to give me that extra pop to my polish. This kit comes with six different colors that transition well from summer into fall. As you already know, I love layering products so I didn’t pass up the opportunity to get creative with layering these polishes.

Since the wedding, I haven’t had much time to sit down and do my nails every week, but once we get a couch and I can sit and watch Bachelor Pad (I know you’re judging, but we all have our guilty pleasures!) every week, I’ll be back to painting my nails.

I think I totally missed Vahni’s post – I’ll definitely be trying waiting between coats next time I paint my nails. I painted my nails last Saturday and had to take it off by Tuesday because it was all chipped. It’s so not worth painting them when they chip that quickly!

I never thought about it before either until I saw it on All Laquered up and wanted to try it out.
Happy birthday, birthday twin! I often do my nails while watching TV, too, but it rarely takes me more than 45 minutes (usually less!). Around once a month I treat myself to professional manicures, though, because I’m not very good at filing and taking cares of the edges around my nails (cuticles etc.).

I’ve only gotten a manicure twice in my life. The second time was for my wedding and I noticed my cuticles were splitting a lot afterwards. I didn’t like that!
Thanks to bloggers I’ve been getting really into doing my nails these days. I like the colours in the kit above. My manicurist probably thinks I’ve left the face of the earth. It’s just so much fun! I’ve read during the waiting drying process!

I have been known to do my nails while watching The Bachelorette as well. The thing people don’t get is you can put a coat of color on, proceed with your day or night, then put the second coat on hours later. It’s not like we’re sitting around doing nothing but our nails. Like you said, it’s just kind of putting on a coat, then revisiting it later.

I like to do mine all in one shot, though it was REALLY hard at first to wait the thirty minutes the first time I did it, but after that it didn’t seem too long especially when I saw results! It lasted 5-7 days without chipping, which to me is worth the 2 hours. Plus it coincided with The Bentley Season.

Two hours sounds about right, which is why I end up going to a salon. At home, I rarely sit still long enough not to blow it immediately. Yikes!
